Organization Overview:

The GSD organization is responsible for the delivery of software on to large scale production, program management and professional services.

The scope of GSD involves E2E testing/Integration of Cloud+RAN+OSS software, CI/CD, large scale deployment and supporting System Integrators & technology partners.

GSD is responsible for overall customer experience and professional services for Symphony.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a bilingual, mid-senior level sales leader based in Japan to join Symphony as Vice President, Services Sales. This strategic role is responsible for expanding Symphony’s services business by proactively engaging with Rakuten Mobile and the broader Rakuten Group. The ideal candidate will identify and secure new opportunities to deliver human resources and execute projects in a managed services model.

Key Responsibilities

・Drive Services Growth: Develop and execute sales strategies to grow Symphony’s services business with Rakuten Mobile and Rakuten Group companies.

・Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders at Rakuten, ensuring Symphony is positioned as a trusted partner.

・Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify and qualify opportunities for providing human resources and managed services solutions.

・Solution Selling: Present Symphony’s capabilities, tailor solutions to client needs, and lead negotiations to close complex service contracts.

・Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with delivery, operations, and HR teams to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.

・Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs to inform Symphony’s go-to-market approach.

・Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate sales forecasts and report progress to executive leadership.

Required Qualifications:

・Experience: 20+ years of sales or business development experience in selling services led solutions, managed services, or human resources solutions, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven track record of scaling services business in a large organization

・Industry Knowledge: Proven track record of selling to large enterprise clients, preferably within the telecommunications or technology sectors.

・Language Skills: Fluent in English (spoken and written).

・Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to establish and grow executive-level relationships within Japanese organizations.

・Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions for complex client needs.

・Results-Oriented: Consistent record of achieving or exceeding sales targets in a consultative sales environment.

・Cultural Fit: Deep understanding of Japanese business culture and working practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

・Prior experience working large scale companies in the Enterprise and Telecom sector

・Knowledge of managed services delivery models and human resource outsourcing.

・MBA or advanced degree in business, technology, or a related field.

・Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written).
