Air Liquide Laboratories is one of the main R&D centers of the Air Liquide group. Its goal is to develop new and innovative solutions for the entire Air Liquide group. Air Liquide Laboratories is located at Innovation Campus Tokyo, inaugurated in March 2019. The new facility promotes collaboration with customers, start-up companies and academic partners. The Campus develops the latest thin film deposition and etching technologies for applications in electronics, batteries and fuel cells, as well as strategies and solutions for the entire supply chain, production, purification, storage, transportation and distribution of low carbon hydrogen.
The Facility engineer is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and safety of the research facility under the supervision of the Facility manager or equivalent. This role ensures that the laboratory environment is conducive to research activities, compliant with regulations, and efficiently managed. The Facility engineer coordinates with various departments, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure the smooth functioning of the facility. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to address diverse situations with multiple stakeholders, and leadership in supervising subcontractors.How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Facility Management and Operations:
Maintenance and repair of laboratories, and equipments.
Reliable operation and management of utilities (electricity, water supply and sewage, compressed and liquid gas supply, HVAC).
Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance and repair services.
Coordinate and supervise facility management staffs
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
Safety and Compliance:
Coordinate with the HSE manager to enforce safety regulations and procedures within the facility.
Manage hazardous materials and waste disposal in accordance with regulations.
Ensure compliance with local and national building codes and environmental regulations.
Equipment Management:
Oversee the procurement, installation, and maintenance of basic laboratory equipment.
Maintain an inventory of equipment and ensure its proper functioning.
Coordinate equipment calibration and repair.
Research Activities Support:
Manage inventory control and purchasing of consumables
Supervise the safe management of gas, chemicals, and industrial wastes.
Provide general support for R&D activities.
Project and budget management:
Oversee facility improvement projects and renovations.
Coordinate with contractors and ensure project completion within budget and schedule.
Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effectiveness, negotiate contracts with vendors.
Communication and Coordination:
Manage reports on facility operations and maintenance.
Coordinate with external regulatory agencies and vendors.
Manage reports on facility operations and maintenance.
Manage various events with stakeholders and report the result efficiently
Are you a MATCH?
Knowledge and skills in electrical and mechanical engineering
Work experience in laboratories/research facilities in institutes, universities, or private companies, knowledge of high pressure gas and chemical handling and related process risk management skills are preferred.
Experience of Facility Management/ Analytical equipment is preferred.
Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar digital working skills.
Ability to communicate and smoothly and problem solving skills
Language Skills : Business level English and Japanese
Knowledge in industrial regulatory and compliance
License in 電気工事士、防火・防災管理者資格、フォークリフト are preferred.
