Metrology Engineer
Location: Tama, Japan
Role Overview
As a Metrology Engineer, you will be responsible for managing high-performance TEM and FIB equipment in our R&D laboratory in Japan. You will collaborate closely with the R&D team to collect and analyze data, support lab operations, and ensure equipment is maintained in optimal condition for efficient performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality TEM and FIB demonstrations and develop new techniques and applications
- Address customer challenges by developing solutions using TEM and FIB tools
- Create Best Known Methods (BKMs) and production-ready recipes
- Support R&D engineers in developing new analytical methods
- Maintain lab cleanliness and organization (6S standards)
- Apply and promote advanced metrology techniques aligned with the company’s technical roadmap
- Collaborate with process engineers to select appropriate characterization methods and assist in data interpretation
- Maintain SPC and uptime data; contribute to tool efficiency initiatives
- Develop applications to identify issues, solve problems, and optimize performance
- Create metrology recipes to support turnkey operations
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Engineering or a science-related field (PhD preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with TEM and FIB tools in semiconductor device/material analysis
- Fluency in Japanese and business-level English communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently
- Knowledge of techniques such as XRR, XRD, XRF, TXRF, optical/e-beam defect inspection, FTIR, SPV, four-point probe, and Hall effect measurements is a plus
- Understanding of semiconductor processing and device fabrication

応募資格
- 工学または理系分野の修士号または博士号(博士号が望ましい)
- 半導体デバイス・材料に関するTEM/FIBの実務経験3年以上
- 日本語に堪能で、英語でのビジネスコミュニケーションが可能な方
- 優れた対人スキルとコミュニケーション能力
- 前向きな姿勢、強い責任感、自立して業務を遂行できる能力
- XRR、XRD、XRF、TXRF、光学/電子ビーム欠陥検査、FTIR、SPV、四端子法、ホール効果測定などの技術知識があれば尚可
- 半導体プロセスおよびデバイス製造に関する理解
