JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Purchasing Officer in Japan and South Korea is to drive the performance of the countries’ purchasing strategies, including the correct deployment of regional and global category management policies. In addition, the role will be crucial in ensuring operational continuity, gathering purchasing requirements and tracking accomplishment of savings targets for the businesses within Japan and South Korea.
JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
An Imerys G&C site at Kitakyushu in Japan and all trading activities within the vicinity of Tokyo for Japan & Seoul for South Korea. The total addressable purchasing spend of 5M€+ with focus on mainly Logistics and Warehousing categories purchases. To be led through coordination and collaboration with Procurement and Supply Chain personnel who are based in Japan and South Korea.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement a clear Purchasing process at country level in liaison with point of contacts from Supply Chain & other functions, to deliver the expected Purchasing cost savings/ identified initiatives.
Coordinate and collect all the needs from the local teams and introduce options/alternatives into the Sourcing Portfolio.
Support any reporting (projects KPI’s, forecast & savings) requirement as required by the Business & Purchasing.
Work closely with the vendors focusing on logistics and warehousing categories and establish performance reviews with the strategic suppliers (on prices, forecast, services and the capacity) to innovate in the markets.
She/he will model the cost impact of market demand variation on selected purchases to improve the company’s competitive position.
Implement best practices and championed responsible purchasing practices. Collaborate with colleagues (including from the region) to share knowledge and learning to fuel continuous improvement.
Regularly scan the market to identify new producers / distributors or regulation changes that may impact the supply base or prices.
Take part in any supplier panel update by reviewing regularly (at least every year) the supply base and manage regular market surveys to identify new producers or new distributors.
Ensure compliance with purchasing strategy and policy at site & local country level.
