This is a critical senior leadership role overseeing a portfolio of major accounts, each with a revenue contribution of at least USD $1 million. The individual in this role must be a relationship builder, strategic thinker, and growth driver, leveraging Edelman’s integrated offerings across PR, digital, creative, marketing, and more. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to navigate both Japanese and Western business practices, bringing a global mindset and experience working effectively across cultures. Experience with Japan-headquartered companies is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for one or more of Edelman’s largest clients in Japan, fostering long-term, trusted partnerships.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for organic growth by deeply understanding client businesses and challenges.
- Introduce and integrate the full spectrum of Edelman capabilities to the client, working with specialty teams as needed both in and outside Japan.
- Ensure account delivery is on time, on budget, with business acumen and of consistently high quality.
- Drive internal networking efforts to broaden Edelman’s footprint within client organizations, building relationships across departments and business units.
- Guide, mentor and inspire the client service team, enhancing capability, strategic thinking, client service standards and directing talent to elevate and grow within the client portfolio.
- Collaborate with leadership on commercial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for assigned accounts.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior client stakeholders, ensuring Edelman remains a proactive, trusted advisor.
- Actively contribute to Edelman Japan’s leadership team and support broader agency initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- At least 15 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing client accounts with annual revenue of at least USD $1 million.
- Previous experience working with or within a Japan-headquartered company is highly desirable.
- Deep knowledge of public relations and integrated marketing communications, including digital tools and channels.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese is mandatory.
