Business Overview
The Marketplace business is the development of Rakuten Ichiba, the founding business of Rakuten.
Rakuten Ichiba, founded in 1997 and continuing to this day, embodies Rakuten's mission of "empowering people and society through innovation," and has created a system that allows people who are good at business to easily open stores beyond the limits of the business sphere, delivering the joy of shopping to users throughout Japan. We are now one of the largest EC companies in Japan. Today, Rakuten Ichiba has grown to become one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan.
Department Overview
We, The Rakuten Ichiba Marketing Department plans and promotes marketing strategies for users in order to increase sales of Rakuten Ichiba, Japan's largest shopping mall with a total of over 100 million members.
"New User Acquisition Group" is responsible for driving overall marketing strategies to acquire Ichiba new users.
Acquiring new users is one of the most important factors to achieve the sustainable growth of Rakuten Ichiba.
Moreover, as the industry leader, we are in need of innovative strategies to make a significant impact for the entire EC market expansion.

Position Details
You will be responsible for acquiring new users by managing the marketing process from the research, analysis, proposal, strategy planning, user communication planning, execution, report, to the operation, as a project owner.
We expect you to handle the multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate with various stakeholders with a strong leadership to move forward and release the strategic activities.
Examples of activities
- Expand and improve incentive program for new users (amount, condition, exposure, communication etc.)
- Lead UX improvement of core site sections for easier usage of Rakuten Ichiba (to enhance conversion rate)
- Capture the timing / trend of users’ purchasing needs accurately and make promotion timely
- Make Evolution of purchasing experience for the new EC opportunitiesAnalyze not only Rakuten Ichiba users but also EC/Non-EC users in various methods
Work Environment
People with the following experience/background are working with us (for example)
- Media planner for a major information service website
- Marketers for major consumer goods companies
- IT consultant at a major consulting firm
- CRM planner for a major cosmetics manufacturer, etc.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Experience as business person over 3 years
- Experience in basic quantitative/ qualitative analysis
Desired Qualifications:
- Marketing in business companies, advertising agencies, consulting firms, etc.
- Experience in planning related work
- Experience in KPI/budget management
- Project management experience
- Organisational management experience
