Research Associate - Quantitative Strategy
We are looking for a driven & detailed oriented candidate to join our Tokyo Equity Strategy business. This is a new and exciting role. You will focus on helping a senior analyst with quantitative and strategy research (equities) and enhancing the Equity Research divisions fundamental research product by developing quantitative models, tools, and frameworks that integrate and complement the firm’s traditional fundamental analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to help innovate and expand the strategy and equity research teams capabilities by combining deep financial knowledge with quantitative strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Helping a senior analyst with quantitative and strategy research (equities)
- Helping to prepare research reports; maintain models and work on client requests
- Collaborate with fundamental equity research analysts to design and implement quantitative models that augment and enhance traditional valuation, forecasting and stock selection methods
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, develop actionable insights, and enhance the quality and approach of the divisions research product
- Apply statistical and quantitative techniques to support research ideas and to generate new ideas for internal stakeholders and clients
- Present quantitative findings and demonstrate how they complement and strengthen traditional fundamental research
- Stay ahead of the latest developments in the equity markets, quantitative finance, and programming
Qualifications:
- Engineering or commerce background (degree in a quantitative field such as finance, statistics preferred)
- 2-5 years of experience in finance related role
- Solid understanding of equity Markets, with an interest in Equity Research, Strategy, and company valuation
- Proficiency in Excel and one other programming language (R, Python, Matlab etc)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively present quantitative concepts
- Japanese language speaker
