About the Team
Fitch’s Investor Development (ID) team works to promote the agency’s research and ratings among key investors with a view to drive demand for Fitch Ratings and, in conjunction with Fitch Solutions, demand for Fitch research and related products.
The global ID team is tasked with raising the profile of Fitch research and ratings commentary to all market constituents and encouraging a greater investor engagement with Fitch ratings, research, products and services. This increase in profile and engagement will be quantified by a broad range of metrics. This role is within the APAC ID team, which is part of the global ID team and provides investor engagement services in APAC countries.
The ID team is part of Fitch’s Business & Relationship Management (BRM) team.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Working closely with Senior Director of Investor Development in Tokyo, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing Fitch’s relationships with portfolio managers, risk managers and credit analysts at large Japanese buyside institutions, banks and insurance companies who are active in global fixed-income markets, with a particular focus on international investments (including Samurai bonds). Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain buy-side relationships with rating users (credit portfolio management, risk management) through meetings, calls, road-shows and events, liaising closely with ID, BRM and analytical colleagues in other jurisdictions to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach.
- Create and oversee events to facilitate direct market access to Fitch analysts to deliver sector credit views and answer investor queries (meetings, roundtables, seminars, calls), across relevant asset classes with a focus on structured finance.
- Working with Senior Director of Investor Development in Tokyo, to map out key investor contacts and and create a complete global profile for each portfolio of key institutions to ensure expert knowledge of their investment profile
- Develop and execute outreach campaigns for Fitch’s ratings, commentary, products & services to increase market engagement with Fitch, with a focus on Structured Finance. Entrench the Fitch brand and ratings in investor workflows. Relay investor feedback on products, ratings and research to analysts and BRM.
- Work along with Senior Director of Investor Development in Tokyo to identify and tackle any barriers among investors
You May be a Good Fit if:
- A minimum of 8-10 years sellside or buyside experience in Japan’s fixed income capital market is required to perform this role successfully
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Native Japanese is essential, other languages advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long term relationships
- An understanding of fixed income investment strategies
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a global organisation
What Would Make You Stand Out:
- Work experience or existing relationships in the structured finance sector (e.g., CLO, ABS, CMBS, RMBS) is a plus.
- Highly motivated with excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills
- Existing contacts and relationships with large Japanese investors is beneficial
