Organization/Team Mission
In order to achieve Mercari's mission of "circulating all value and expanding possibilities for everyone," the Corporate Development team is responsible for accelerating business growth through strategic investments, including M&A. Working closely with the management team and each business division, they contribute to Mercari's medium- to long-term growth strategy.

Work Responsibilities
- This position will focus on Japan as its core while also looking globally, and will be responsible for creating inorganic opportunities and driving projects that will serve as the starting point for disruptive growth, working with management, business divisions, and external partners.
- We continuously research market size, competitive environment, technology trends, and product trends, and provide management with both quantitative and qualitative insights. In particular, we appropriately utilize technologies such as generative AI in industry and competitive research and trend analysis to improve information collection and processing.
- You will plan and execute the sourcing of candidate companies and lead the relationship building with entrepreneurs, investors, advisors and other stakeholders.
- After the deal is finalized, we support internal decision-making by conducting due diligence, valuation, synergy evaluation, and preparing investment decision-making materials. In the execution phase, we work with specialized departments (legal, financial, and tax) to carry out practical work, while considering the possibility of using AI generation for contract analysis and standard document organization.
- After the deal is concluded, you will be responsible for formulating an integration plan and creating synergies through PMI. There will be an opportunity to incorporate data utilization and automation support in some areas, such as KPI monitoring and visualization of business operations.

Qualifications
- Required Experience/Skills
- Experience in M&A execution (DD, valuation, contract negotiations, etc.) and PMI at investment banks, strategic consulting firms, PE funds, or business companies.
- Those with experience in new business development and product management at a business company, and a track record of involvement in M&A and capital alliance projects (especially in promoting PMI on the business side)
- In addition to high business literacy in areas such as financial analysis, modeling, and document and material creation, flexibility to proactively consider utilizing new tools and methods to improve business efficiency and accuracy
- Strong communication skills to work with a variety of stakeholders and coordinate and reach consensus among multiple interests, as well as the ability to communicate across cultural and language barriers both domestically and internationally.
- Preferred Experience/Skills
- Experience in sourcing strategic investments and M&A, or practical involvement in target selection and initial consideration stages
- Experience in industry networking with startups and VC funds, or involvement in pipeline creation using new sources and tools
- Experience in cross-border M&A, collaboration with overseas companies, or business promotion in a multinational environment
- Experience in designing and implementing business and organizational integration in PMI projects after M&A and alliances
- Experience leading decision-making based on product understanding at software companies and startups
- Language
- Japanese: Proficient (CEFR - C1) required
- English: Independent (CEFR - B2) preferred

- 求める経験・スキル
- 投資銀行、戦略コンサルティングファーム、PEファンド、または事業会社等において、M&Aのエグゼキューション(DD、バリュエーション、契約交渉など)およびPMIに関わった経験 (3年以上)
- 事業会社での新規事業開発の経験があり、M&Aや資本提携プロジェクトへの関与実績(特に事業側PMIの推進)
- 財務分析やモデリング、文書・資料作成などの高いビジネスリテラシーに加え、業務効率化や精度向上のために新しいツールや手法の活用を前向きに検討できる柔軟性
- 多様な関係者と協働しながら、複数の利害関係を調整・合意形成できる高いコミュニケーション力、および国内外の文化・言語の壁を越えて意思疎通できる力
- 歓迎する経験・スキル
- 戦略投資やM&Aのソーシング経験、またはターゲット選定・初期検討段階への実務的関与経験
