Team / division overview
Alternative Specialist Group within the Client Coverage Division (“CCD”) of DWS is a globally coordinated team based in 12 offices across 9 countries and currently stands at a strength of 40 staff. The Head of Alternative Specialist in each region reports to the regional head with a global coordination pursued by the Alternative Specialists Global Head. The Head of Alternative Specialist, APAC reports to the Head of Client Coverage, APAC to deliver against our business plans for alternative distribution and capital raise in the region.
Alternative Specialist is the dedicated sales, distribution, and investor relations group within the CCD for the Alternative asset class offerings structured and launched by the Product division and managed by the Investment Division. The Alternative asset class offerings include Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Debt, and Liquid Real Assets. The group works closely with the sales generalists and other specialized teams (such as Insurance, Client Relations, Institutional, Private Banking, and Retail) within CCD to ensure the delivery of quality solutions to our clients who want to invest into Alternatives.
Role Details
As a Head of Japan Alternative Sales, you will be responsible for:
Leading the delivery for Alternatives fundraising efforts for Japan taking the lead in identified markets (both with respect to fund marketing, but also SMAs and co-investment syndication).
Leading the development of regional fund marketing plans for Alternatives, including market demand assessment activities, working closely with colleagues across Coverage, Investments and Product divisions around the world.
Driving the analysis and related documentation associated to the sales strategy and capital raising across Private Credit, with a core focus on ABF, with respect to fund marketing, but also SMAs and co-investment syndication.
Developing strong productive relationships with internal distribution partners.
Leading direct client outreach in Japan markets to Alternatives stakeholders, allocators and influencers, with a focus on establishing client relationships and creating sales opportunities.
Leading coordination for the delivery of specialist investment content associated to RFP and DDQ activity.
Working closely with teams such as Product Specialists, Research and Investment Managers to convert sales opportunities into AUM flows.
Managing Investor Relations activities, including LP Advisory Committee meetings and LP engagement, including Fund AGMs and annual Investor Conferences.
Remaining abreast of industry trends and themes and attending industry conferences/events on behalf of DWS.
We are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance-related fields, with a proven academic performance
Hold the Certified Internal Control Officer & Sales Representatives of Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA)
Proven track record across an environment such as Investor Relations, Client Relationship Management and/or Investment Marketing, with solid understanding of private market fundraising strategies such as Real Estate, Private Credit, Infrastructure or Private Equity for Japan
Ability to lead relationships with Japan based LPs.
Demonstrable experience of leading the production of specialist investment content for RFP and DDQ activity to support capital formation strategies.
Strong networking skills and proactive approach to working with colleagues across the business, but equally adept at working autonomously.
Highly structured approach with project management skills and strong analytical skills using Excel.
Ability to connect and build strong relationships with others, highly developed verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Professional Japanese and English skills in reading, writing, and speaking.
