Role Overview
Job Summary:
As part of the Retail Sales Channel in the Power Sales and Marketing team, you will play a critical role in expanding Peak Energy’s retail-facing power sales activities in Japan. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with Japanese power retailers and trading houses, driving strategic commercial agreements (physical and virtual PPAs for the sales of renewable energy), and supporting the company’s long-term goals in Japan’s deregulated electricity market.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Account Management
- Lead retail electricity sales and contract negotiation with power retailers and trading houses
- Achieve sales and volume targets through effective commercial strategy and client engagement
- Develop tailored solutions for retail partners and ensure successful execution of contracts
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (legal, finance, development) to ensure offers meet internal risk, compliance, and delivery requirements
- Prepare documentation for FIP (feed in premium) and subsidy applications processes
Market Development
- Map and prioritize retail market opportunities in Japan, including deregulated market segments and partner strategies, across all regions in Japan
- Monitor regulatory and market changes that impact power sales and retail strategy
- Represent Peak Energy at industry events, forums, and networking sessions to strengthen market visibility
Qualifications:
- Bachelor ‘s degree or higher; background in business, energy, finance, or law is a plus
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, ideally working in a power retailer or trading house in Japan
- Proven track record in sales, client management, and negotiating commercial power contracts
- Familiarity with Japan’s electricity market structure -, PPA contractual terms and frameworks, regulatory requirements
- Experience in the renewable energy sector is preferred
- High level of self-motivation, independence, and ownership
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to work cross-functionally
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written); entry-level English, business-level English is a plus
