ROLE PROFILE
The Product Manager, Sustainable Products, APAC plays a key supporting role within a strategically important global team in a dynamic and rapidly growing business. This individual brings a well-rounded skill set, including knowledge of the sustainability market, strong client engagement capabilities, and experience in product development and implementation.
The role reports to the Senior Manager, Sustainable Product, APAC. The Product Manager is responsible for managing and evolving sustainable products—across index, data, and analytics—and for engaging with clients, particularly in Japan, to understand their sustainability goals and challenges.
As a key member of the team, the Product Manager collaborates closely with the broader Sustainable team, as well as with Sales, Marketing, Index Research, and Data Solutions, to deliver the sustainable product roadmap, manage product lifecycles, and meet client needs across the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting product innovation, execution, and lifecycle management across index, data, and analytics, aligned with both tactical and long-term goals.
- Assisting in the design and development of sustainable product propositions that address identified client and market needs.
- Contributing to the sustainable product roadmap and prioritising tasks to align with strategic objectives.
- Collaborating effectively with product managers, internal stakeholders, and clients throughout the product development process.
- Engaging with clients to support product development aligned with their sustainability objectives.
- Developing product documentation and training materials to support the commercialisation of new offerings, particularly for the Japan Sales and Marketing teams.
- Staying informed on developments in the sustainability industry, including regulatory changes and competitor activity.
- Monitoring the external market for best practices and emerging trends in sustainability-related index, data, and analytics.
- Supporting the promotion of sustainability capabilities and products through marketing initiatives such as webinars, events, and social media campaigns.
KEY SKILLS AND BEHAVIOUR
- Strong knowledge of product management processes, with demonstrated ownership of sustainable product(s) throughout the full product lifecycle.
- In-depth understanding of the sustainable investment market and how Sustainability/ESG preferences influence investment processes and decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written - with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at varying levels of domain expertise, including senior leadership.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate across a matrixed, multi-site organisation; demonstrates a proactive, team-oriented mindset and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail; able to deliver at pace, prioritise effectively, and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Applies insight and sound judgment to make decisions that advance the Sustainable Product team’s objectives, while considering internal and external stakeholder impact; proactively identifies and resolves potential issues.
- Continuously monitors the market to understand current and emerging sustainability-related customer needs, and identifies creative, pragmatic solutions for both self and team.
- Strong problem-solving skills; highly literate and numerate.
- Self-motivated, takes initiative, and demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm.
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in finance, economics, sustainability, or sustainable finance is a plus.
- Proficiency in both Japanese and English is required.
