Department Overview
We, The Rakuten Ichiba Marketing Department plans and promotes marketing strategies for users in order to increase sales of Rakuten Ichiba, Japan's largest shopping mall with a total of over 100 million members.
Our mission is to further evolve the traditional Rakuten Ichiba marketplace by identifying customer needs and business opportunities within each genre and category, and accelerating customer acquisition, nurturing, and sales promotion.
To this end, we are accelerating the movement to strengthen genre-specific strategies and marketing, and have established a genre-focused marketing section.
This new section will drive further growth across Rakuten Ichiba as a whole by promoting marketing strategies tailored to each genre and category, which cannot be fully addressed by marketing efforts targeting all genres.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the planning of overall genre strategies encompassing everything from merchandising to delivery and service. You will also be responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing comprehensive marketing strategies, from raising awareness to driving conversions, to maximize the appeal of the relevant genre. You will work with internal teams such as Sales, Merchandising, and Development, as well as external agencies, to maximize the distribution volume of the genre.

Position Details
You will be responsible for the end-to-end process of developing overall strategies, planning and executing marketing initiatives, and measuring their effectiveness within a specific category on Rakuten Ichiba.
- User analysis and competitor analysis
- Planning of TV commercials and digital advertising measures to expand awareness
- Campaign strategy for conversion measures
- UX and communication design and implementation leadership
- Effectiveness measurement and performance management
Example of Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following tasks in Rakuten Fashion THE SALE, one of Rakuten Ichiba's largest sales events:
1. Strategy Planning: Develop the overall marketing strategy for the event.
2. UI/UX Design: Design the UI/UX communication to enhance the event page's usability and appeal, and plan attractive incentives for users.
3. Promotion: Design and execute a communication plan combining various channels such as digital advertising and TVCM, and supervise the production of materials.
You will be responsible for developing promotion plans for top-of-mind awareness when purchasing products in established categories (e.g.prepared foods):
1.Strategy Planning: Develop the overall commnication plan including key messaging, communication channels, and frequency etc.
2.Creative design: Collaborating with agencies to develop and oversee the creation of impactful and engaging creative assets.
3.Effect analysis & Optimization: Integrating customer interaction data and Ichiba behavioral and psychographic data to measure campaign performance and drive continuous improvement.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience
- Basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Marketing experience at a business company, advertising agency, or consulting firm
- Experience in planning-related work
- Experience in KPI and budget management
- Project management experience
- Organizational management experience
