The Marketplace Business is responsible for operating Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten's founding business.
Founded in 1997, Rakuten Ichiba has continued to embody Rakuten's mission of "empowering people and society through innovation." It has created a system that allows skilled merchants to easily open stores beyond the limitations of their local markets, bringing the joy of shopping to users all across Japan.
Today, it has grown to become one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan, widely used by many customers.
Department Overview
Rakuten Ichiba Marketing Department is responsible for planning and promoting marketing strategies aimed at increasing sales for "Rakuten Ichiba," Japan's largest shopping mall with over 100 million registered members.
In this role, you will be responsible for everything from strategy and planning to execution of gift specials that see increased demand during seasonal events such as Mother's Day, Christmas, and summer gifts, as well as for specific genres like fashion, cosmetics, interior design, and home appliances.
By focusing on year-round events and various genres, you will capture customer needs and business opportunities, contributing to customer acquisition, retention, and sales promotion.

Position Details
As the owner of the planning process, you will lead everything from data analysis and campaign design to promotion planning and execution. You will analyze customer needs for different events and genres using both internal and external data, and formulate promotion plans that leverage the strengths of Rakuten Ichiba's diverse lineup of shops and products. You will coordinate with various departments, including development, sales, production, and PR, to implement attractive campaigns.
In addition to individual campaigns, you will also be involved in strategic planning for genres such as gifts and fashion, leading approaches to nurture and acquire customers throughout the year.
Main Responsibilities
- User analysis and campaign strategy/planning
- Forecasting campaign effectiveness and managing results
- Planning TV commercials and digital advertising initiatives
- Designing and leading the implementation of campaign UX and communication
- Leading internal and external project members to execute initiatives
- Strategic planning for specific genres

Mandatory Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of professional work experience
- Experience in marketing or consumer-oriented promotions and service planning in e-commerce
- Experience leading a team or project of 5 or more members
- Basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Data analysis skills/SQL
- Experience in planning and executing TV commercials and digital advertisements
- Experience in defining business requirements for web development
- Experience in negotiating and coordinating with diverse stakeholders
- Skills in visualizing (quantifying) goals and executing the PDCA cycle to achieve them
- Skills in coordinating/negotiating with internal and external parties and team building
- Ability to respond flexibly to changing situations
